Hydroponic Supplies

Are you sick of the annoyances of conventional gardening? What if someone told you that you could eliminate the need for weeding, spreading soil, tilling, and even pest control? This can be achieved by simply taking out one aspect of gardening: the soil.

Hydroponic gardening is the act of gardening without soil. Instead, the plants are immersed in a nutritious solution that allows them to absorb it directly through their roots. While it may seem strange at first, studies show that plants actually grow quite effectively this way and at a much faster rate than plants grown in soil. However, some growers do prefer having a base of some kind. In cases such as this, they use foam root pads, sand, gravel, Styrofoam, clay pellets, and other hydroponic supplies that allow the plant to stand up.

Of course, finding the right hydroponic supplies isn’t always easy, especially if you’re just starting out. Fortunately, there are a wide variety of places you can find everything you need to get started. Here are a few tips of what to look for.

First, establish what you plan to grow. There are thousands of different hydroponic solutions to choose from, all of them tailored toward a specific plant, whether you decide to grow flowers, fruits, vegetables, or garden herbs. There are also fertilizer solutions and growth boosters to consider as well. Whatever you choose, you will be able to take satisfaction in the knowledge that you are doing your part to make your plants grow faster, live longer, and give better results.

Other hydroponic supplies include grow lights and fan systems. While the grow lights are essential for healthy plants and help them to grow better, the combination of heat from the lamps and immense amounts of water in the room can create a lot of humidity, which can result in problems.

At the very least, your plants will wilt due to too much moisture in the air. So much humidity in an enclosed space may also result in bacteria or algae forming if you’re not watchful. Having a set of fans or an air conditioning unit helps circulate the air, which is overall much healthier for your plants. Other hydroponic supplies may include pH strips and acidity stabilizers. While most nutrient solutions are created to keep your plants as healthy as possible, acidic abnormalities can still occur.
